What we do
Subtitles
For the best part of two decades Subtext Berlin has been providing subtitles for international films and TV shows, film festivals, museums, galleries and theatre – in countless language combinations and always created by native speakers with a feel for idiomatic nuances. We know how important it is to respect the style and rhythm of the original and give our all to convey this in the subtitles.
Films for all
Providing equal access to audiovisual media is a key focus of our work. We offer captioning for the hearing impaired and audio descriptions for the visually impaired that meet all funding requirements with sound recordings by professional speakers.
Text translation
Be it a voiceover script, screenplay, exposé or exhibition catalogue, our qualified translators cover all areas of expertise. In addition, each translation is carefully checked over by a proofreader. We work with a trusted pool of translators that we have carefully expanded over the years.
Technical expertise
STL N19, 2K, srt, ttf or DCP – we’ll guide you through the jungle of technical terms and requirements and deliver subtitles in any desired format – subtitles that can be attached or removed, permanently embedded, produced in line with Arte, Amazon Prime or Netflix guidelines, in vertical format for Instagram or in super widescreen Cinemascope.
